With the gas scare we had recently in Ontario average gas price is now one buck a litre. Here are some tips for conserving gas:
- Consider not using your car at all (duh!) and instead walk, use the bicycle or public transportation or walk. Or if you have more than one car use the vehicle with less gas consumption
- Don't drive aggressively. Sudden ("jack-rabbit") starts and stops waste a lot of fuel and don't give you anything. On the road drive at constant speeds and maintain a distance from the car ahead so you don't have to use frequent use of the breaks
- Don't drive faster than the speed limit
- Maintain the car properly and do regular tune-ups; change the motor oil as advised, use a clean air filter and ensure the tires are inflated at the recommended pressure
- Don't let your car idle needlessly
- Plan your trips or errands to be more efficient by combining them and using shorter routes
- Remove extra weight from your vehicle and outside accessories like racks etc that increase air drag
